Magazine Usage License

Effective Date: May 5, 2026

This Magazine Usage License (“License”) governs the permitted use of digital and physical magazine content distributed by Bone & Briar Holdings and Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine.

By purchasing, downloading, accessing, subscribing to, viewing, printing, or otherwise using any magazine issue or related content, you agree to the terms of this License in addition to all other applicable policies and Terms of Service.

Scope of License

This License applies to all magazine-related content distributed by Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine, including but not limited to:

• Digital magazine issues

• Physical magazine editions

• Downloadable PDFs

• Archive issues

• Subscriber-exclusive editions

• Bonus content

• Pattern charts

• Tutorials and articles

• Photography and artwork

• Promotional inserts

• Supplemental downloads

• Special edition releases

• Collector editions

• Printed booklet compilations

• Future archival reprints

All magazine content is licensed, not sold.

Ownership of Content

All magazine content remains the intellectual property of Bone & Briar Holdings, contributing artists, licensors, or applicable rights holders.

Purchase or access does not transfer ownership of:

• Copyrights

• Trademark rights

• Publication rights

• Distribution rights

• Contributor rights

• Branding assets

• Layout designs

• Editorial content

All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Contributor Ownership and Publication Rights

Contributor-created works published within Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine remain the intellectual property of their original creators unless otherwise governed by a separate written agreement.

However, contributors grant Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine and Bone & Briar Holdings non-exclusive publication and distribution rights necessary to:

• Publish the magazine

• Archive previously released issues

• Produce collector editions

• Distribute digital or physical versions

• Create archival reprints

• Operate print-on-demand releases

• Sell back issues

• Distribute issues through retail or marketplace platforms

This may include distribution through:

• Digital storefronts

• Print-on-demand services

• Third-party magazine platforms

• Amazon and Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)

• Barnes & Noble Press

• Marketplace and archival distribution systems

Previously published issues may continue remaining available through archives, reprints, collector editions, marketplace listings, or future publication formats even after original release dates.

Contributor ownership and publication rights are separate concepts. Contributors retain ownership of their original work while granting the magazine permission to publish, distribute, archive, and preserve the issue containing that work.

Personal Use License

Subject to compliance with this License, users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license for personal, non-commercial use only.

Users may:

• Download purchased digital issues

• View magazine content on personal devices

• Print patterns for personal stitching

• Store personal backup copies

• Reference articles and tutorials for personal use

• Share photographs of completed stitched works online for non-commercial purposes

This License applies solely to personal household use.

House Designs vs Contributor Designs

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may feature both internally created House Designs and independently owned Contributor Designs.

House Designs

House Designs refer to patterns and artwork created directly by Bone & Briar Holdings or specifically designated as official Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine house content.

Unless otherwise stated, customers may create and sell limited quantities of handmade finished stitched pieces created from official House Designs.

This permission applies only to personally handmade finished stitched works and does not permit:

• Mass production

• Factory manufacturing

• Commercial outsourcing

• Print-on-demand usage

• Digital redistribution

• Pattern resale

• Commercial chart redistribution

Contributor Designs

Contributor Designs remain the intellectual property of their respective creators.

Customers may not commercially sell finished stitched works created from contributor-owned patterns unless the contributor has explicitly granted permission to do so.

Commercial usage permissions may vary between artists, and it is the responsibility of the customer to review or obtain the contributor’s individual usage terms where applicable.

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine and Bone & Briar Holdings do not grant commercial resale rights on behalf of independent contributors unless explicitly stated in writing.

Pattern Usage Rights

Patterns included within magazine issues remain subject to contributor rights and intellectual property protections.

Users may generally:

• Stitch patterns for personal enjoyment

• Share photographs of completed stitched projects online with reasonable credit where practical

• Display completed works in personal spaces

Users may not:

• Redistribute the charts themselves

• Sell copied pattern files

• Upload charts publicly

• Extract patterns for resale

• Claim authorship of contributor designs

• Create derivative chart products for redistribution

• Commercially reproduce contributor-owned works without permission

Certain contributors may impose additional restrictions or permissions where separately stated.

Prohibited Uses

Unless expressly authorized in writing by Bone & Briar Holdings, users may not:

• Redistribute magazine files

• Share downloads publicly or privately

• Upload issues to file-sharing websites

• Resell or sublicense magazine content

• Photocopy entire issues for distribution

• Digitize physical editions for sharing

• Remove watermarks or copyright notices

• Republish articles, layouts, or charts

• Repackage magazine content into other products

• Use content for mass commercial manufacturing

• Sell copied or modified versions of magazine materials

• Use magazine assets in competing publications

• Upload content into subscription libraries or databases without authorization

• Create unauthorized translated editions

• Scrape or archive content for redistribution purposes

Unauthorized distribution of digital or physical magazine content constitutes copyright infringement.

Physical Magazine Editions

Physical magazine issues, collector editions, printed booklet versions, and archival compilations remain protected under copyright law.

Ownership of a physical copy does not grant rights to:

• Reproduce the contents

• Digitize and share issues

• Scan charts for redistribution

• Commercially reproduce layouts or artwork

• Create unauthorized print compilations

Physical editions may include archival or previously published materials and may continue being sold after original publication dates.

Archive Access and Availability

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may maintain digital archives, subscriber libraries, historical issue collections, and future printed archival editions.

Access to archives is licensed and may be modified, restricted, updated, or discontinued at any time.

Bone & Briar Holdings does not guarantee perpetual access to:

• Archived issues

• Subscriber libraries

• Download portals

• Supplemental materials

• Historical releases

Users are encouraged to maintain personal backups of legally obtained files where permitted.

Educational and Community Use

Limited personal sharing of completed stitched projects within hobby communities is generally permitted.

However, the following activities require prior written authorization:

• Teaching classes using reproduced magazine content

• Group distribution of copied charts

• Club-wide reproduction of issue materials

• Library digitization projects

• Commercial workshop usage

• Organized pattern-sharing activities

We support community engagement while protecting contributor rights and publication integrity.

Social Media and Online Sharing

Users may:

• Share completed stitched projects

• Tag official magazine accounts

• Post limited preview imagery for commentary or review purposes

• Discuss magazine content online

Users may not:

• Upload full charts

• Post complete magazine spreads

• Share downloadable PDFs

• Distribute subscriber-exclusive materials publicly

• Remove attribution or branding

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to request removal of unauthorized shared content.

AI and Automated Data Use Restrictions

Unless otherwise authorized by applicable law, users may not:

• Use magazine content for AI training datasets

• Mass-scrape magazine assets

• Feed protected content into automated commercial systems

• Reproduce layouts or patterns through automated extraction systems

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves all rights relating to automated data collection and machine-learning usage involving protected content.

Copyright Enforcement

Bone & Briar Holdings actively protects its intellectual property rights and the rights of contributing artists.

Violations of this License may result in:

• Revocation of access

• Account suspension

• DMCA takedown notices

• Marketplace infringement reports

• Legal claims

• Financial damages

• Permanent restrictions from future purchases or submissions

Failure to enforce a provision in one instance does not waive future enforcement rights.

Termination of License

This License automatically terminates if a user violates any provision contained herein.

Upon termination, users must cease all unauthorized use of protected materials.

Termination does not eliminate any legal obligations or liabilities arising from prior misuse.

No Transfer of Rights

This License may not be transferred, sublicensed, assigned, or shared without prior written consent from Bone & Briar Holdings.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bone & Briar Holdings shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of magazine content, archive access, download systems, or related materials.

Maximum liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the applicable issue or subscription.

Policy and License Updates

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to modify this License at any time.

Updated versions become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.

Continued use of magazine content after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised License.
