About Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine
A Different Kind of Cross Stitch Magazine
Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine was created for stitchers who love the strange, the spooky, the emotional, the unconventional, and the beautifully creative side of modern cross stitch.
We are an independent alternative cross stitch publication focused on showcasing artists, creators, and designers whose work exists outside the traditional boundaries of the hobby. From witchy elegance and gothic romance to dark humor, cozy spooky aesthetics, tattoo-inspired artwork, vintage Halloween nostalgia, cute creepy characters, emotional storytelling, and everything in between — Chaos exists to celebrate creative voices that deserve to be seen.
Not every design needs to be dark horror. Not every pattern needs to be traditional sampler art. We believe cross stitch can be strange, funny, dramatic, emotional, playful, rebellious, comforting, weird, elegant, or deeply personal.
Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine was built to make space for all of it.
Built for Both Stitchers and Artists
At its heart, Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine is about connection.
We want stitchers to discover exciting new artists they may never have found otherwise. We want designers to feel genuinely supported, respected, and celebrated for their work. We want readers to open an issue and immediately feel inspired to start stitching something unusual, beautiful, emotional, or unforgettable.
What You’ll Find Inside
Each issue of Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may include:
- Original cross stitch patterns
- Independent artist spotlights
- Creator interviews
- Upcoming and current SAL (Stitch-A-Long) features
- Community stitching highlights
- Themed collections
- Seasonal features
- Tutorials and creative content
- Exclusive releases
- Alternative and spooky-inspired artwork
- Contributor shop links and creator information
We want every issue to feel alive with creativity, inspiration, and community — not just a collection of charts. Alongside featured patterns and artists, we also aim to spotlight exciting SAL projects, community events, upcoming releases, and the evolving world of alternative cross stitch culture.
Supporting Independent Designers
Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine proudly supports both established and emerging creators.
Many talented artists never get visibility simply because they are new, small, independent, or working outside mainstream crafting trends. We believe incredible creativity deserves attention regardless of follower count, industry status, or publication history.
That means:
- New artists are welcome
- Small creators are welcome
- Experimental styles are welcome
- Beginner-friendly patterns are welcome
- Large advanced pieces are welcome
We care far more about originality, presentation, readability, craftsmanship, and artistic personality than popularity.
We also believe artists deserve to remain owners of their own work. Contributors retain copyright ownership of their patterns and artwork while granting publication rights necessary for magazine distribution and archival use.
Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine exists to elevate creators — not take ownership away from them.
Quality Matters Here
While Chaos embraces creativity and unconventional themes, we also care deeply about quality.
We encourage:
- Cleanly charted patterns
- Readable layouts
- Reduced confetti where practical
- Thoughtful color usage
- Pattern Keeper compatibility
- Professional presentation
- Artistic refinement
We do not accept low-effort automated conversions or AI-generated artwork converted directly into charts with little human refinement.
Cross stitch is a craft built on time, effort, intention, and artistry — and we believe the patterns inside a magazine should reflect that care.
A Magazine Designed to Grow
Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine is still in its early chapters, and that is something we are proud of.
This publication is being built independently from the ground up under Bone & Briar Holdings with the long-term goal of becoming a lasting creative platform for alternative cross stitch artists and readers.
As the magazine grows, our plans include:
- Expanded artist compensation
- Physical collector editions
- Printed booklet compilations
- Community spaces and events
- Seasonal special issues
- Collaborations and sponsorships
- Expanded contributor opportunities
- Community spotlights and features
- Future educational and creative content
We are intentionally building slowly, carefully, and creatively — with artists and readers at the center of the experience.
