THE ALTERNATIVE CROSS STITCHING MAGAZINE

Submit Your SAL

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine is now accepting submissions for upcoming and active SAL (Stitch-A-Long) events from both established and emerging designers within the alternative cross stitch community. We welcome a wide range of spooky, gothic, witchy, cute creepy, dark humor, vintage Halloween, tattoo-inspired, cozy spooky, emotional, and alternative artistic themes that align with the creative direction of the magazine.

Not every SAL needs to be dark horror or heavily gothic. We intentionally support a broad range of artistic styles and community-driven stitching experiences, from cozy seasonal stitch-alongs to large dramatic mystery projects.

Our goal is to help readers discover exciting upcoming SALs early enough to:

  • Prepare materials
  • Join community groups
  • Follow participating artists
  • Plan stitching schedules
  • Participate from the very beginning of the event

Whenever possible, Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine aims to feature SALs up to six months ahead of their planned launch dates.

Creators submitting a SAL feature must provide:

  • The SAL title
  • Creator name, alias, or business name
  • Social media links
  • Storefront or website links
  • Official signup or participation links
  • SAL category or theme
  • Planned start date
  • Estimated duration
  • Whether the SAL is mystery, partially revealed, or fully revealed
  • Promotional preview images or mockups
  • A short description of the event

Contributors featured within the SAL section retain full ownership of their original patterns, branding, artwork, and intellectual property.

AI-assisted promotional mockups are allowed. However, SAL projects that rely primarily on fully AI-generated artwork converted directly into charts with minimal artistic refinement will not be accepted.

Most importantly, do not be afraid to submit if you are brand new. Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine was created to help showcase independent creators, community projects, and exciting new artistic voices within the stitching world.

Please review our full SAL Submission Policy before submitting your event.

Submission Review Timelines

We kindly ask SAL creators to remain patient during the review process and to avoid sending repeated follow-up emails or status check requests regarding active submissions.

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine reviews SAL submissions not only for artistic quality and thematic fit, but also for:

  • Seasonal timing
  • Issue scheduling
  • Community relevance
  • Reader interest
  • Promotional timing
  • Editorial balance

Because our publication schedule may plan content months in advance, some SAL submissions may be held for future issues, themed editions, or later promotional windows.

A delayed response does not necessarily indicate rejection.

If we are interested in featuring your SAL, whether immediately or at a later date, our editorial team will contact you directly when appropriate.

We deeply appreciate every submission and understand the amount of planning, organization, creativity, and community effort involved in running a successful Stitch-A-Long event.

Please review our full Stitch Along Submission Policy prior to submitting your SAL.

The SAL Submission Process

We aim to keep our SAL feature process approachable, creator-friendly, and community focused, especially for independent designers hosting their very first Stitch-A-Long event.

01

Submit Your SAL Information

Begin by submitting your SAL details, including preview images, creator information, event dates, links, category or theme, and whether the project is mystery-based, partially revealed, or fully revealed. At this stage, we are primarily reviewing thematic fit, presentation quality, and overall compatibility with the magazine.

02

Editorial Review & Scheduling

Our editorial team will review your SAL for seasonal timing, issue compatibility, artistic direction, and community interest. Some accepted SALs may be scheduled months in advance depending on the publication calendar and issue themes.

03

Feature Preparation

If selected for inclusion, you may be asked to provide finalized promotional materials such as updated graphics, social links, storefront information, signup links, hashtags, community group links, or additional preview assets needed for publication and promotion.

04

Publication & Community Promotion

Once scheduled, your SAL will appear within an upcoming issue of Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine as part of our featured community stitching and event coverage. Featured creators will also receive promotional exposure through associated issue marketing and community visibility where applicable.
