Community Standards & Conduct Policy

Effective Date: May 5, 2026

This Community Standards & Conduct Policy governs participation within all community spaces operated, hosted, managed, or moderated by Bone & Briar Holdings and Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Official Discord servers
• Community chats
• Comment sections
• Subscriber groups
• Social media pages
• Live events or streams
• Community forums
• Member discussions
• Future online community spaces
• Collaborative events and stitch-alongs

By participating in any community space associated with Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine, users agree to follow this policy in addition to all other applicable Terms, licenses, and policies.

 

Our Community Philosophy

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine exists to celebrate creativity, individuality, spooky artistry, humor, emotional expression, and independent creators within the cross stitch community.

We aim to build a welcoming environment that encourages:

• Creativity
• Respectful discussion
• Constructive feedback
• Community support
• Artistic expression
• Collaboration
• Inclusive participation

We recognize that alternative art communities often include strong personalities, dark humor, emotional themes, and unconventional artistic expression. However, all participants are still expected to engage respectfully and responsibly.

 

Respectful Conduct

Community members are expected to:

• Treat others respectfully
• Communicate constructively
• Respect contributor boundaries
• Engage in good faith discussions
• Respect differing artistic tastes and skill levels
• Avoid harassment or intimidation
• Support healthy creative environments

Disagreements are allowed. Hostility is not.

 

Constructive Criticism

Thoughtful discussion and respectful critique are welcome within appropriate community spaces.

However, criticism must remain:

• Constructive
• Relevant
• Non-abusive
• Non-targeted
• Professional in tone

We do not permit:

• Personal attacks
• Public humiliation
• Dogpiling
• Harassment campaigns
• Mockery intended to demean creators
• Repeated hostile behavior toward artists or community members

Remember that many contributors are independent artists sharing personal creative work.

 

Harassment and Abuse

The following behaviors are prohibited:

• Harassment
• Threats
• Bullying
• Stalking behavior
• Doxxing
• Hate speech
• Slurs or discriminatory conduct
• Sexual harassment
• Intimidation
• Repeated targeted hostility
• Deliberate attempts to disrupt community spaces

This applies to interactions involving:

• Community members
• Contributors
• Moderators
• Staff
• Collaborators
• Readers
• Customers

 

Hate Speech and Discrimination

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine does not tolerate discriminatory or hateful conduct targeting protected groups or individuals.

This includes:

• Racism
• Homophobia
• Transphobia
• Religious discrimination
• Ethnic discrimination
• Ableism
• Sexism
• Extremist advocacy
• Dehumanizing language

Users engaging in discriminatory conduct may be immediately removed from community spaces.

 

 

NSFW and Mature Content

Because Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may feature spooky, gothic, emotional, dark humor, or alternative artistic themes, certain mature discussions or artistic subjects may appear within community spaces.

However, the following are prohibited:

• Pornographic content
• Explicit sexual imagery
• Anatomical below-the-waist nudity
• Graphic fetish material
• Sexually exploitative content
• Illegal content
• Sexualized content involving minors
• Excessively graphic gore

Limited profanity and tasteful artistic discussion may be acceptable depending on context and platform location.

Moderators reserve full discretion regarding content suitability.

 

Pattern Sharing and Piracy

Respecting artist rights is extremely important within our community.

The following are strictly prohibited:

• Sharing paid patterns without permission
• Uploading magazine PDFs
• Redistributing contributor charts
• Sharing subscriber-exclusive downloads
• Pattern piracy
• File trading
• Unauthorized cloud storage sharing
• Requests for pirated materials

This includes content from:

• Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine
• Independent contributors
• Third-party designers
• Other publishers

Users engaging in piracy-related behavior may be permanently banned.

 

AI Content Standards

We support thoughtful artistic workflows and recognize that some creators use technology-assisted tools responsibly.

However:

• Spam-generated AI content is prohibited
• Mass-produced AI chart spam is prohibited
• Misrepresenting AI-generated work as fully handmade is prohibited
• Uploading low-effort automated pattern conversions may be removed

AI-assisted mockups used for presentation purposes are generally acceptable when transparently and responsibly used.

 

Self-Promotion and Advertising

Reasonable self-promotion may be allowed within designated community areas where applicable.

However, users may not:

• Spam links
• Flood chats with advertisements
• Mass-message members
• Aggressively solicit sales
• Promote unrelated products excessively
• Use community spaces primarily for advertising

Moderator approval may be required for certain promotional activities.

 

Contributor and Creator Respect

Artists featured within Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine are entitled to respectful treatment.

Users may not:

• Harass contributors over pricing
• Demand free patterns
• Pressure creators for commercial permissions
• Redistribute creator work
• Publicly attack artists over style preferences
• Encourage harassment campaigns

Constructive artistic discussion is acceptable. Creator harassment is not.

 

Moderation Rights

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to:

• Remove content
• Lock discussions
• Restrict access
• Mute users
• Suspend accounts
• Permanently ban users
• Remove posts without notice
• Moderate discussions at our discretion

Moderation decisions are made to protect the safety, stability, and overall health of the community.

Not every moderation decision will receive a public explanation.

 

Reporting Problems

Community members are encouraged to report:

• Harassment
• Piracy
• Threats
• Hate speech
• Spam
• Copyright violations
• Unsafe behavior
• Policy violations

Reports should be made respectfully and in good faith.

False reporting, abuse of moderation systems, or malicious reporting campaigns may themselves result in moderation action.

 

External Platforms

This policy applies to official community spaces operated by Bone & Briar Holdings.

We may also consider severe off-platform conduct when evaluating community safety, including:

• Credible threats
• Coordinated harassment
• Doxxing
• Criminal behavior
• Severe contributor targeting

 

No Guarantee of Access

Participation in community spaces is a privilege, not a guaranteed right.

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to deny or revoke access to any community platform at any time and for any reason consistent with maintaining community safety and operational integrity.

 

Policy Updates

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to update or modify this Community Standards & Conduct Policy at any time.

Updated versions become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.

Continued participation in community spaces after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
