This Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy explains the ownership, protection, permitted use, contributor rights, publication rights, and enforcement standards associated with Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine and all related services operated by Bone & Briar Holdings.

This Policy applies to all websites, digital products, magazine issues, downloadable files, patterns, artwork, contributor submissions, archives, social media content, and related materials distributed or published by Bone & Briar Holdings.

Ownership of Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated in writing, all content made available through Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine and related Services is owned by or licensed to Bone & Briar Holdings and is protected under applicable copyright, trademark, intellectual property, and unfair competition laws.

Contributor Ownership Rights

Submission to Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine does not transfer ownership of contributor-created works to Bone & Briar Holdings.

• License their work separately

• Continue using and promoting their creations

• Maintain ownership of their artistic identity and branding

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine does not claim authorship or ownership over contributor-created works.

Publication and Distribution Rights

While contributors retain ownership of their original work, accepted contributors grant Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine and Bone & Briar Holdings broad non-exclusive publication and distribution rights necessary to operate, archive, distribute, promote, preserve, and sell the magazine.

These rights may include:

• Digital publication

• Physical publication

• Archived back issues

• Print-on-demand distribution

• Collector editions

• Promotional previews

• Marketplace distribution

• Subscription libraries

• Website archives

• Retail distribution

• Historical publication archives

• Future publication technologies and formats

This may include distribution through third-party publishing and retail platforms including, but not limited to:

• Amazon and Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)

• Barnes & Noble Press

• Digital magazine marketplaces

• Print-on-demand services

• Retail and archival distribution partners

These rights are non-exclusive, meaning contributors remain free to continue selling and distributing their own work independently.

Difference Between Ownership and Publication Rights

Contributor ownership and publication rights are separate concepts.

Contributors continue owning the copyright to their original work. However, by agreeing to publication within Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine, contributors grant Bone & Briar Holdings permission to publish, archive, distribute, market, preserve, and continue selling the issue containing their work.

This allows Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine to function as a legitimate long-term publication while still respecting contributor ownership rights.

Archived and Previously Published Issues

Published issues of Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may remain available indefinitely through:

• Digital archives

• Back issue sales

• Print-on-demand systems

• Physical reprints

• Collector editions

• Subscription libraries

• Marketplace listings

• Historical publication archives

Because magazine publishing relies on long-term archival consistency, contributors cannot retroactively revoke distribution rights for issues that have already been published, sold, printed, archived, distributed, or released through third-party platforms.

This archival protection applies only to the publication and distribution of the magazine issue itself and does not transfer ownership of contributor-created works.

House Designs vs Contributor Designs

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine may publish both:

• House Designs

• Contributor Designs

House Designs

House Designs refer to patterns, artwork, charts, and related creative materials created directly by Bone & Briar Holdings, Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine, or affiliated in-house creators operating under company-owned brands.

Unless otherwise stated:

• Customers may generally create and sell limited quantities of handmade finished stitched objects created from official House Designs

• Digital redistribution of House Designs is never permitted

• House Design charts, layouts, and files may not be redistributed, uploaded, copied, shared, scanned, or commercially reproduced

This permission applies only to personally handmade finished stitched pieces and does not permit:

• Mass production

• Factory manufacturing

• Commercial outsourcing

• Print-on-demand production

• Pattern redistribution

• Digital chart resale

• Automated manufacturing processes

Bone & Briar Holdings reserves the right to modify or revoke permissions related to House Designs where necessary.

Contributor Designs

Contributor Designs remain the intellectual property of their respective creators.

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine does not grant commercial resale permissions on behalf of independent contributors unless explicitly stated in writing.

Finished stitched objects based on Contributor Designs may only be sold, reproduced, or commercially used if permitted directly by the original contributor or designer.

Customers and readers are responsible for reviewing and respecting the individual licensing preferences, commercial permissions, and shop policies of each contributing artist.

Unless separately authorized by the contributor:

• Contributor patterns may not be commercially reproduced

• Contributor charts may not be redistributed

• Contributor works may not be modified for resale purposes

• Contributor materials may not be commercially exploited

All contributor copyrights remain fully intact unless otherwise governed by a separate written agreement.

Standalone Pattern Sales

Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine does not directly republish or separately sell contributor-submitted patterns as standalone individual pattern products outside the context of:

• The magazine itself

• Archived issues

• Collector editions

• Promotional previews

• Official publication compilations

unless separate written permission is granted by the original contributor.

Contributor works are featured as part of the publication experience itself and are not converted into independent house-owned products.

Personal Use License

Unless otherwise specified, digital products and magazine content are provided under a limited, non-transferable, revocable license for personal use only.

Users may:

• Download purchased files for personal use

• Print patterns for personal stitching

• Store backup copies for personal archival purposes

• Share photographs of completed stitched works online for non-commercial purposes

Users may not:

• Redistribute digital files

• Share downloads with others

• Upload files to public websites or cloud libraries

• Resell digital files or magazine issues

• Convert patterns into other digital formats for redistribution

• Trace, recreate, or modify patterns for resale

• Remove copyright notices or watermarks

• Claim ownership or authorship of protected materials

General Restrictions

Contributor and Artist Rights

Contributors submitting content to Chaos Cross Stitch Magazine represent and warrant that:

• They own or control the necessary rights

• Submitted content is original or properly licensed

• Submission does not knowingly infringe upon third-party rights

• They possess authority to grant publication permissions

Contributors may grant Bone & Briar Holdings certain non-exclusive publication, archival, promotional, and distribution rights associated with accepted publication materials.

Watermarks and Copyright Notices

Users may not remove, alter, obscure, bypass, or falsify:

• Watermarks

• Branding elements

• Copyright notices

• Metadata
